It was already one of my favourite designs, but the 1970s Roberts Rambler DAB radio is even more appealing with these new colours.
I know what you are thinking. DAB radio in the 1970s? Of course, there was;t such a thing. You probably struggled to get some stations in FM, let alone DAB. But that’s one of the upgrades you get with the Roberts Rambler in 2018 compared to the early 1970s.
After a lengthy break, the Roberts Rambler returned to the shelves a few years back, still with the same distinctive look (it really had to keep that), but with the inner working updated for the modern market. The technical side has been tweaked since, but nothing too radical. The biggest difference recently is the colour of the finish.
And I mean very recently too, as the latest Roberts Rambler radios haver only just hit the shelves. Probably nice timing too with Christmas on the horizon.
Those new shades are suitably retro, with vintage shades of green, blue or pink available for the leather handle and the body. There’s still a wooden case and a metal grille too.
Beyond that, the Rambler has DAB, DAB+ and FM reception, with 20 presets available for your favourite stations with the touch of a button. Also here are ports for plunging in additional devices if you want to use the radio as a speaker, a headphone slot, alarms (radio or buzzer) as well as sleep and snooze timers, plus the option of mains or battery power.
Of course, there’s a digital display on the top, something else that wouldn’t have been seen in the ‘70s.
All those new colours are available now and picture here, with the price of each at £99.99. Great design pieces, but also great radios too. And we all need a radio somewhere.
