Yes, it does look like something you might recognise. But the midcentury modern audio table by i-box is half the price of that popular piece.
You are likely to be thinking of the much-loved Tabblue speaker table by Steepletone, which has been popular on these pages for quite some time. It also made the cut in my top 10 midcentury modern audio systems round-up of a couple of years back too.
It sets a high bar in both looks and functionality. But this one might just match it and considering it is around half the price of the Steepletone design, it has added appealing terms of cost too.
Do check that one out if you want to compare and contrast, but for now, I am focusing on the i-box design, which also goes down the midcentury modern route for inspiration, but varies slightly with a plectrum-shaped top and a slightly wider profile for both the table and legs. It is also available in two colour options, although the oak version is far more appealing than the plain grey one. Although that might well fit into your home easier. Personal choice at the end of the day.
So the design ticks the box, but the functionality is impressive with this table too. It’s a wireless charging Bluetooth speaker. That’s right. Not just the audio, this one charges you4 gadgets too.
It offers 360-degree sound projection from 20W speakers, with a built-in subwoofer for what’s described as an ‘immersive audio experience’ when you stream via Bluetooth from your smartphone or tablet. There’s also a 3.5mm AUX input for playing music from any device with a headphone socket.
As I said, a charging station too. Integrated beneath the table surface is a built-in 5W wireless charger, which means you can simply place your compatible smartphone on the marked charging area of the table and enjoy immediate charging with no wires. But check to see if you have a compatible phone to do that (the listing has models that work with it).
Oh, and did I mention it was wireless? It has a built-in battery, which delivers up to four hours of music playback. So when the sun is out it can go out in the garden as well.
All of that for a very reasonable £99.95, which you would expect to pay for a side table alone. As a bonus, it’s on Prime at Amazon, which means you get free delivery if you happen to her signed up to that.
