With Wimbledon looming, let’s talk Bjorn Borg and his instantly recognisable tennis style. None more so than the Fila Settanta Track Top.
Over 40 years ago, Bjorn Borg signed a long-term deal with Fila for tennis wear and a sporting legend was born. The clothing was worn on the courts and not long after, gear like the Settanta Track Top made it to the streets and terraces too. Decades on and it still looks the part. Of course, it does – just look at it. I did some tennis lessons some time back and the first thing I did was buy a load of old Fila gear!
That’s why I am talking it up right now. Well, not just because of that. The sun is out, the sky is (almost) blue and the big coats are moving back into the wardrobe. But with Wimbledon starting to come into view, I’m also starting to get nostalgic for the golden era of tennis and the clothing of that era. It really was a different level. Yes, the Settanta is in my mind. Great for the court and some tennis warm-ups, but a hip retro jacket for daily wear too.
Plenty of colours to choose from as well, with just a few of them pictured here. Check out the retailer’s site for more. Of course, the details across the range are exactly the same.
Those are the contrasting panels under both arms with the iconic pinstripe detail running through it, along with a striped waistband with matching collar and cuffs, full zip front and Fila branding to the zip and chest.
It really is a classic for this time of year, just as long as the good weather holds for the summer. If you fancy one, the Fila Settanta Track Top retails officially for £65 in whatever colour you opt for. But right now, due to Wimbledon starting, you can get 20 per cent off it at Stuarts. Just use the code WIM20 to get the money off.
