Now, this is unexpected but a very welcome return. A range of midcentury modern-style garden furniture at Aldi.
I shouldn’t really be surprised, as Aldi does have a track record of occasionally producing affordable retro designs. In the past, I have mentioned the Reka DAB radios, the similarly-named retro home telephones and the Dansette-style record player to name just a few things. Someone in the design or purchasing department has an eye for retro.
Which is perhaps why this range of garden furniture has arrived – and just in time for the warmer weather. Well, it missed the Easter warm spell, but you know what I mean.
This is a set too, not a case of buying pieces individually. But it does seem good value in light of what you get in this collection. It includes a two-seater sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table, which is ideal for furnishing a patio or any outside space, as well as a conservatory or sun room.
All have a similar look, with the selling point for me being those long, tapered wooden legs supporting the wicker seating. Some cushions too for added comfort. The coffee table has a similar look, but with a clear tempered glass top sat on top of the grey wicker.
Fancy it? If you do, this lands as part of the Aldi Special Buy selection this weekend and is available online. Normally I would add that these will eventually be in a store too, but due to size, this will probably only be available online.
If you want one, the full set retails for £299.99.
