Britpop is back, and if you want to be kitted out appropriately, check out the Oasis-inspired knitwear at Mod Shoes.
I suppose Britpop made its comeback when Blur got back together last year for an album and tour. Pulp is back, too, which is always a good thing. But the big reunion for this year is, as you well know, the return of Oasis.
Tickets for the reunion shows were snapped up in minutes despite the size of the venues being played. That means a lot of people are getting a second taste of Oasis. If you are going, you might want to revisit the wardrobe too.
Mod Shoes has made a name for itself, recreating classic garments from rock and pop history. You might recall I have featured Kurt Cobain’s t-shirt, The Beatles button-down shirts, and Beach Boys-inspired t-shirts to name just a few things. And now the label is all in on Oasis.
The three designs currently offered are based on knitwear Noel Gallagher wore in the band’s 90s heyday. Noel was always a natty dresser and these designs have aged well over 30 or so years. Retro back then and still the case now. But more importantly, it is still very stylish and wearable.
The first (working down there page) is the Don’t Look Back In Anger Track Top, which landed last year, promptly sold out, but is now back in stock. This was originally a cardigan (you can see a pic of Noel wearing it on the retailer’s site) but has been adapted to a more functional track top—same look, slightly different garment, but very versatile.
You can pick that up in all sizes now for £69 at the maker’s website.
A more recent launch has been the SuperNova top by the 66 Clothing offshoot of Mod Shoes. Again, it is based on a top worn by Noel back in the day, with this one being a more faithful recreation of the original. Again, pictures of Noel in the original on the website.
It’s a slightly loose top based on one worn by Noel when he appeared with the band on Later… with Jools Holland back in 1995. It’s light blue, with contrast stripes and a zip collar—again, a functional item.
£56 for this at the Mod Shoes website.
Finally, something that hasn’t launched just yet but will be appearing soon. It’s a new colourway for the Don’t Look Back In Anger top, this time with a black base with bold white horizontal stripes across the chest. It also keeps the zip-up front, ribbed cuffs, and a relaxed fit. Same maker/seller; this one lands on Friday, 31st January. And I’m sure it won’t be the last design too. A retailer to keep an eye on.
