We seem to be going all Art Deco on the property front this week. Not by choice, we just keep encountering such properties online, including this very eye-catching 1930s six-bedroomed Art deco house in Luton, Bedfordshire.
It was originally designed and exhibited at the Daily Mail Home Exhibition at Earls Court in 1934, subsequently built in 1935, along with only two others, one in Hendon and one in Bognor. In more recent years (2001 to be precise), the house was featured on old BBC homes show Home Front, with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Diarmid Gavin reworking the interior and garden. But don't let that put you off.
Indeed, despite the fairly modern feel of the interior, the house still has that 'blank canvas' feel within, allowing you to put the period back in if you wish. But if you want something more modern, it can do that too – and still has the 'Hollywood style garden with a huge rotating egg cum cocktail cabinet', which was added by the TV folk.
The actual accommodation has three floors, with a ground floor offering an entrance hall, cloakroom, 30ft living / dining room (could be separate), 25ft kitchen / family room and a 15ft home office / utility room. the first floor has a landing, two bathrooms, three double bedrooms, one single sized bedroom and a balcony, while the second floor has a landing, master bedroom with balcony and bedroom six / dressing room. There's also two single garages, that garden and a cellar.
Sold with no chain, offers are invited around the £465,000 mark.
That is just gorgeous. Shame I’m in Australia.
