I spent part of the weekend in Harrogate, checking out the sites and the property market, which currently includes this 1930s Art Deco apartment in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
Sat on the main Leeds Road into Harrogate, this was once a large Art Deco house until a developer decided two apartments were better than once house. Can't say I agree with the thinking, but at least said developer has maintained the classic exterior, the biggest selling point in my book.
The interior of the first floor apartment is something altogether different. If you want modern and contemporary, this is it. Although we suspect you could slip in period fittings easily enough if you want to go for authenticity.
In terms of specifics, there are two bedrooms, a spacious landing, a modern kitchen, solid walnut floors, en-suite shower room and a separate bathroom. You can also use the communal garden. £279,950 is the asking price. If you buy it, you never know – the downstairs might come up for sale in future – and you can return the house to its former glory.
I agree the exterior is fantastic. The inside doesn’t look like its retained many Art Deco features.
