I have featured earlier models in the past, but this 1970s Fiat 500 Giardiniera on eBay looks immaculate.
Admittedly, you might prefer a 1960s model. But there’s not a massive amount of difference. Both have much the same purpose. Offer the classic Fiat 500 look but add in more space. And let’s be honest, that is no bad thing.
Yes, everyone loves a vintage Fiat 500, but it’s not the most practical of cars if you have passengers and/or luggage. This model might lose a bit of ‘cuteness’ as a result of the added size, but you’ll be thankful of it if you are heading out on holiday.
Not that the model here, which dates from 1973, doesn’t have character. It has a vintage authenticity that’s likely to appeal to many.
It also has something else on its side, which is the fact that this car has had a full restoration. Not that it has taken too much away. the car even has the original engine and gearbox in place. No it had been checked over, corrected where necessary and some added style thrown in.
So you get the suicide doors, the full-length sunroof and the original grey finish. But it now has that striking red finish inside to complement the original dashboard, new classic whitewall tyres and a clean finish inside and out.
Note that it also has just 69000 km on the clock and according to the seller, is ‘always garaged’. The downside for some is left-hand drive as this is a European model. But that’s not unusual these days.
It’s on at a fixed price, which is £14,890.
