The Clarks Rambler has been suspiciously absent from its catalogue for some years. Not anymore thankfully, as it has just returned.
Yes, it’s back, a replica of the original, which dates back to the late 70s (around 1978) and is certain to have geography teachers jumping for joy.
Indeed, its quirky appeal is probably going to pick up a few fans outside that demographic too, especially those asymmetric seams, chunky laces and distinctive crepe sole.
The Clarks Rambler is pretty much a calling card for the Clarks Originals brand – very much of its era and quirky enough to put off all expect the truly dedicated. Yes, a shoe you either love or hate.
Personally I love it and hopefully the shoe is back to being a staple of the Clarks Originals range. Get them in the two colour options you see above and below, with both priced at £75.
Note that there is a Clarks Outlet online now, which is also worth a browse, as it deals with end of line shoes you might not be able to get in the more obvious places.
Update: Yes, it was too much to ask. Not long after the Clarks Rambler returned to the shelves, the company decided it had no future on it. That’s right, this style is no longer available, but the shoe does come up regularly via a rare Clarks seller on eBay. So if you are willing to pay a little over the odds, it is worth checking out on the off-chance he or she has stock.
I’ll continue pressing Clarks to bring this back into the Originals range, which would certainly benefit from the shoe being part of it.
Oh my, these definitely remind me of my school days!
I had a pair of these when I was a kid. All my mates said they looked like cornish pasties and made fun of them. I was really proud if them too!
got rid of mine because they smelled but regretted it – why I didn’t just use some deodorant talc I’ll never know
I had mine for years, perfect for bowling, but sadly the sole split and I was unable to get them repaired …..so they ended up in the bin……….. such a shame
