It’s a brand that conjures up an era, not least because it was everywhere in the 1970s before gradually drifting away (with the exception of in Japan). But now the Admiral sportswear label is back in the UK.
Sadly, we aren’t going to see mass reissues of all those kits from the ‘70s Instead, the label is back as more of a casual sportswear brand, offering old school sports gear of course, but also ( more bizarrely) a clothing range too.
The main part of the new label is the ‘Retro’ range, which does take inspiration from the sports (primarily football) kits of the past and include track tops, t-shirts and best of all, the vintage-style holdalls.
Outside of that is the ‘Gold’ range, which includes polo shirts, trousers, jeans and knitwear. If we’re honest, it all passes as by, as it doesn’t really connect in the same way as the Retro collection.
Want to check it all out yourself? You’ll need to head to your local Sainsbury’s, with 90 stores as the exclusive sellers from 14th July 2015. Prices do look cheap, with the entire range priced from £16 – £30.
