If you thought wicker and rattan were left for good in the 1980s, think again. Sika Design is bringing it back using iconic Danish design, which includes this 1950s Oeuf rattan hanging chair.
This is part of an icons series, which includes work from Danish designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Viggo Boesen, Wengler and Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel. Do check out the retailer’s website to see more examples of how other designs have been reworked in wicker and rattan.
But for now, we will focus on the Oeuf by Jorgen and Nanna Ditzel, which dates from 1959 and is such an evocative design. One you might well associate more with the 1970s than the 1950s, but definitely a great retro look as well as a lot of fun.
This one has been reworked in rattan, finished with a 43cm chain for hanging. £1,363 is the price if you have the space to hang one.
