If we see dark wood and chrome, we always think late 60s/early 70s. But this is actually a modern design – the Ikea Fusion dining table and chairs.
Spotted by Trizia (many thanks for that), this is a Sandra Kragnert design, offering chrome-plated support for both table and chairs, with an ash veneer and beech plywood used for the table tops and seating (the latter with added polyurethane foam for comfort).
And just to add to the look, the chairs sit comfortably under the table when not in use (just like the classic Frem Rojle dining set, not that wer'e saying this is up with that particular design).
As far as we can see, this is currently US-only, retailing for $299 (around £200). But with the new season about to start at Ikea, we might just see it in the coming weeks.
Update: Seems it is in the UK – just not available online
That – or something extremely similar – has been in the Croydon IKEA for about two years.
I have that one, I love it!
yeah, been on sale in UK ikea for a couple of years.
it’s really small, OK for scoffing down a bowl of serial of a morning …….. bit of a squeeze for anything more than that.
I don’t know — I managed to have a Christmas dinner for four adults on it. It’s not that much of a squeeze.
Because the chairs go on the corners, people can eat without bumping their elbows against each other.
Plus, because there are only three legs (with one firmly in the back), you can’t tip your chair back, which was a fear for my dining room, since I have a very large fishtank and not much room between it and the dining table.
It’s an absolutely wonderful table.
We also have it in France – small bute quite convenient.
I’ve also seen this in an Australian ikea store too.
This has definitely been out there two or more years ago, in Europe anyway. I remember drooling over it when I saw it the new catalogue. 🙂
