Cast your mind back and you might remember the Sheila Bownas archive – a collection of over 200 designs dated from the 1940s through to the 1980s, gradually and imaginatively being reissued. The new West Riding collection is proof of that.
It's so named because this particular design is inspired by the architecture and landscape of Linton and surrounding villages of North Yorkshire where Bownas lived and worked until her death in 2007.
The pattern has been reworked by different makers in various ways. It's been handprinted onto fabric by Sarah Waterhouse, Parlour – who previously worked with the archive on the Edwin sofa - have produced the rather handsome stool shown above and Zoe Darlington (whose own collection we featured here) has used it on lighting. Finally Elisabeth Barry has created stunning porcelain vases using the pattern, which can be seen below.
Prices start at £45 and go up to £245 for the stool.
