The kings of the modern-day guide are back with another gem. Specifically The Velvet Underground map of New York by Herb Lester Associates.
I think you can guess what this one is about. The map traces the world of the Velvet Underground, where the met and where they inspired. All the significant NYC locations have been charted on the map, covering everywhere from Harlem to the Lower East Side.
That includes the location of Andy Warhol’s Factory, the clubs they played at (and where they hang out), their apartments, even where they found the book which gave them their name. 49 entries in total, with a cast list that includes Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Moe Tucker, Nico, Andy Warhol, Paul Morrissey and Edie Sedgwick.
The cover art features a special foiled, shiny banana, with the map litho-printed in England on 100% recycled paper. £4 gets you one, with the initial run also including a free banana bookmark.
