Not just an incredibly stylish object, but a practical one too – the Alessi 1920s Sylvia Stave cocktail shaker.
Its modernist looks date back to the 1920s, the work of Swedish designer Sylvia Stave and in production between 1920 and 1930 by the C. G. Hallbergs company of Stockholm. And now its available again via Alessi, complete with that mirror polished steel exterior and a 100cl capacity if you want to shake up a quick Martini.

This is lovely and I’ve been looking out for one on eBay for ages, but I didn’t know they still made them, I thought they had been discontinued. Is it a reissue?
The information is not correct. Sylvia Stave was employed 1929 at C G Hallberg. I´m a collector of swedish design from 1927 to 1939 and I also look things up in the archives of design in Sweden. Collectors of Sylvia Stave think that her rational jugs and shakers came in production first in 1934. The fault of the information about this shaker is by the producer of it today – Alessi. They have not only missed the shakers original proportions and measurements,they have also made a pretty poor work on the original year of production of the shaker.
