We have featured a lot of midcentury beds in the past, the vast majority offering up a very similar look to the next one. That’s certainly not the case with the Fronzoni '64 bed.
This is cutting edge modernism, 1960s style. As the name suggests, it was the work of A. G. Fronzoni back in 1964, producing a bed made entirely of square metal tubing, with slats of solid covered tulipier (apparently a type of magnolia wood).
The end result was Fronzoni’s attempt to ‘remove every redundant effect’ and ‘every useless flowering’ from the bed. It certainly works on that front. A design statement that’s available in an anthracite or matt white lacquer finish, it sells for £2,664.
Oh yes, make sure there is plenty of room to get it into the house too, as the designer’s fixed welded frame does not disassemble.
