Buy it! G Plan furniture

Whilst browsing through Ikea recently, I checked out the upmarket (and retro) Ikea Stockholm range, noticing its similarity to vintage G Plan furniture. G Plan was launched in 1952, with a heyday in the 1960s and into the 70s. And that heyday means there’s a lot of it about – and it’s cheap to buy.

The styles gradually changed over the years, but if you find a look that suits your home, you shouldn’t have a problem finding the entire set. And with G Plan, that means just about everything for furnishing a house – from a sideboard, display cabinets and a dining table through to wardrobes and a dressing table.

And unlike today’s flat pack, G Plan furniture was made by craftsman –
which means those drawers will still open and that cupboard will still
lock, just like the day it was made. That teak should come up well with
a good clean too.

An affordable alternative to vintage Scandinavian furnishings (the inspiration behind many G Plan items), you can pick up an endless number of
items on eBay from as little as £1. A shrewd investment for any retro
buyer.
