Back in April, we previewed the Joe Colombo exhibition and mentioned that it was heading to Manchester. Well, 8 months down the line, it’s arrived – and well worth the wait.
Joe Colombo: Inventing the Future is the first international retrospective of Colombo’s influential work, mixing what are now design classics (including the Elda armchair, the Universale chair, the lamp Alogena and of course, the Boby Trolley) with some of the Italian’s more quirky and outlandish ideas, plus original sketches, plans, brochures, architectural models, several films and contemporary photos.
If you’re in the city, it should offer some inspirational respite from the Christmas shopping crowds. Joe Colombo: Inventing the Future runs from Saturday 2nd December 2006 – Sunday 25th February 2007 at the Manchester Art Gallery. Admission is free.
