Yes, we’re nothing if not topical. The sun is shining and someone will have uttered the word ‘barbecue’ to you at some point. If you think it’s a good idea, you can alway opt for the wonderful Mon Oncle retro-style portable barbecue.
This is the work of Lewis and Co and quite simply, this is a barbecue that looks like a vintage suitcase, complete with leather handle. Yes, someone has made a barbecue that looks as good about your person as it does when fully set up and cooking your lunch.
That’s enough for me to be honest as I am rather shallow and easily tempted by anything with a strong retro look. But there’s more.
Once you open up the ‘vintage suitcase’, then you will find a portable tabletop barbecue that’s easy to set up and to dismantle and with a stainless steel grill plus holes to ‘allow the air to flow’, making it more powerful and of course, the grill hotter as a result. It also makes sure the case doesn’t overheat, which is something you really don’t want if you are carrying ity back at some point.
Downside? Well, there is one massive downside and that is the price. It doesn’t come cheap at £298. Saying that, if you have the money to invest, you will look incredibly hip when you pop along to the beach or garden with this under your arm

If you want something cheaper in the retro barbecue line, I would also recommend having a look at the Waitrose 1950s-style barbecue, which at £40 is a little easier on the wallet.
