We have featured the company before with its Retrostar chair and sofa. But we haven’t picked up on the Supernova armchair by Sternzeit Design.
Like those previous designs, this is a 1960s piece that pushes things just a little further down the line. Yes, we love an angular sofa or chair, but we haven’t seen anything with angles as sharp as this one. It really is something.
In the right environment – and we are talking midcentury modern – this is a chair that could set off a room and certainly start a conversation. But it’s not all about looks.
The wide seat and backrest, plus the foam padding and steel suspension apparently provide a ‘pleasantly comfortable’ sitting experience, while the tilted backrest is all about relaxation too. I don’t think the dark, solid beech add much in terms of seating experience, but they certainly look the part.
Plenty of colours to choose from and if you want one or more in your home, the Supernova sells for €279.

Note that it does occasionally come up for sale (discounted) at Monoqi too.
