Not just any old 1966 Citroen DS21 on eBay. This one used to be a diplomatic vehicle and one that hides a little secret.
Yes, according to the seller, this left-hand drive model was formerly a French Government diplomatic car, but has been in the UK since 1990 and is fully road legal and MOTd for this part of Europe. It’s also an interesting car because the design was changed in 1967 and as such, this style is a more sought after one.
But there is another reason why this will be sought after. Its condition.
The interior is described as being in ‘exquisite and stunning’ condition, with the cloth seats, instruments, door cards, carpets and headlining all described as ‘excellent’. That’s probably down to a restoration by a Citroen specialist, who found a ‘hidden panel’ inside when carrying out the work. Very James Bond. The exterior is in a ‘flawless gleaming black’ and ‘as near to perfect as its possible to get’.
As for the inner workings, this DS21 has a a four cylinder 2175cc producing 109bhp. It also has a 4-speed manual column change gearbox, with the gear change described as ‘precise and smooth’.
This is an award winning car that comes with documentation and photographs showing the ‘thoroughness and sympathy’ of the restoration. With that in mind and considering the rare nature of the vehicle, you have probably guessed that this one doesn’t come cheap.
If you want it, you will need around £34,995 or you can make a cheaper offer.
