They could easily pass for vintage, but the Sheffield midcentury modern display units at Maisons Du Monde are modern-day designs.
This is what Maisons Du Monde tend to be pretty good at. Recreating period pieces, particularly midcentury designs, for the modern market and for the right price too.
The pieces aren’t cheap, but they compare well with similar designs and of course, come in much cheaper than reissues of classic designs.
There are three designs currently in the range, all working a similar territory. Those are the bookcase (although it could probably pass for more of a general storage unit), a three-door TV self (another adaptable design that could work as general shelving) and finally, the sideboard, which is pretty self-explanatory.
All are cut from the same cloth, with a natural wood finish, helped along by a stained oak covering, feature black panels, tapered legs and a slightly overlapping design for the drawers.
It is all very functional design, but with sufficient retro style to catch the eye. A good combination and perfect if you need storage in a room that takes inspiration from the mid-20th century.
As for price, the bookcase retails for £899.50, the TV shelf unit is yours for £804 and the sideboard with three drawers sells for £699.50.
