This is part of a larger range, but I’m flagging up my favourite piece, the John Lewis x Swoon Wren midcentury modern coffee table.
It is a range I might revisit, but to cut a long story short, interior design maker and seller Swoon (formerly known as Swoon Editions) has teamed up with John Lewis and Partners for a capsule collection of pieces available exclusively via the latter.
The range includes seating, bar trollies, a drinks cabinet, shelving, tables, sideboards and media units. Everything you would expect of Swoon, but with designs made exclusively to sell at John Lewis and Partners. If you want to browse the full range you can see it here.
But the coffee table is the design that really jumps out at me. Yes, I have featured a number of coffee tables in the past. In fact, I compiled a top 10 of midcentury modern coffee tables just last year if you want to check that out. But this one has something about it.
A design right out of the middle of the 20th century, the Wren coffee table has an organic, smooth design and a soft, rounded profile, complete with a tray edge finish and an accent of sunken white marble that really sets it off. Skinny tapered legs, of course.
At £249 it is an investment, but still a lot cheaper than some of the original design reissues out there and with as much appeal to these eyes.
