One of the symbols of the sixties – the lava lamp – is half a century old this year and is marking the occasion with these 50th anniversary limited edition Mathmos Astro lava lamps.
It's a variation on the classic Astro lamps, originally designed all the way back in 1963 and the inspiration for this lamp comes from sixties advertising. It's got clear red lava, gold annodised metal parts, a gold commerative logo and a red sash on the base.
The packaging picks up on the retro theme too, reproducing some of the imagery from the original sixties adverts.
This lamp has been issued as a limited edition of 500, with a certificate signed by Christine, wife and business partner of Mathmos founder and lava lamp inventor, Edward Craven-Walker.
The lamps are priced at £100 each.
