Scandinavian design may resign supreme, but I always have a soft spot for things from the former East Germany such as this Chicken Egg Cup by Sonja Plastics.
The egg cup originates from the 1950s in the DDR as the locals would call it then. The manufacturer, who is still going today, predates the dividing of Germany, so has survived through a difficult period in the country's history. Going back to the egg cup – it is available in a huge array of colours – personally I like the sunny yellow shown here, but you could also opt for white, hot pink, purple, orange, lime green or a couple of shades of blue.
Priced £4.50 each, you can buy the egg cups from Yeradessa on Not on the High Street.
