I have seen this on US sites, but it seems like the Crosley Rondo retro Bluetooth speaker has now landed in the UK.
I’m all for that too. This is a ridiculously cute piece of technology that would look great on the shelf of a retro home or home office. And it has a practical use too.
Yes, it looks like a 1950s radio and that’s pretty much the point. It looks like you have a gadget from that era in your home. But this isn’t a throwback radio. It’s a Bluetooth speaker. Although there’s nothing stopping you from streaming some vintage tunes through it.
Not just that, this mini gadget (just 12cm across) lets you hook up your phone, with side controls to accept calls, as well as to control the volume and skip through tracks. There’s also USB and Mini SD ports for additional connectivity too plus a rechargeable battery. After all, who needs visible wires in the 21st century?
The one downside is just one colour being available right now. I have seen different finishes, including a chrome in the US. But the blue is appealing in a retro kind of way. The kind of shade you can imagine picking out from a Farrow and Ball paint range.
Hards to find in the UK right now, but in the US you can get one for $22.95.

Note that it was originally available for £25 at Urban Outfitters in the UK. Might be worth keeping an eye on them in case they get more stock in.
