I love the understated style of this newly-launched, 1960s-style Timex X Pan Am Waterbury watch.
And, of course, I love the fact that it features Pan Am. Because nothing screams ‘hip jet-setter’ like the old-school Pan Am logo. There’s something so emotive about it. Sticking on a classic Timex? Even better.
It’s a lovely watch that could pass for an original. You really could imagine this at the airport store in 1966. The period authenticity is the big selling point here.
The classic Waterbury with its 42mm stainless-steel case construction has been subtly reworked in conjunction with Pan Am, with detailing including bold Arabic indices on its uncomplicated navy-blue dial, a date function, a brown leather strap, and, as you might have noticed, the Pan Am logo on the front, along with less obvious Pan Am branding to the rear and on the strap.
Oh yes, there’s the packaging too, which is a Pan Am collector’s dream. Not forgetting, there is a chronograph version, too, which adds those extra dials to the face.
The chronograph comes in a little more expensive at £220, with the standard version also available from Timex for £180.
