Plenty of Gazelles around in various colours, but none quite like the newly launched Adidas SPZL Gazelle trainers.
Because this is a retro throwback of the Adidas Gazelle. Of course, nothing significant had changed, or it wouldn’t be the Adidas Gazelle. But as ever, it’s all in the detail.
This is a limited edition design that incorporates details seen in Gazelles from the late 1960s and early 1970s. And for that reason, this version will have its fans.
The only problem is that you might have to explain them to people a little less ‘in the know’. The gold branding is plain to see, as is the contrasting white around the lace box. Less so is the ‘vintage foxing tape’, which apparently harks back to the shoes made in Canada in the early 1970s.
Outside of that, it’s a classic Gazelle with a green suede upper, rubber outsole, perforated stitch stripes and the gold Gazelle SPZL branding.
Suede shoes at this time of the year are a risk, but they might not be around when the weather picks up. So buy now and store for later. Or just treat yourself for Christmas. They sell for £110 as part of the Consortium range.
They are available from the Hip Store and End Clothing.
