It looks like a midcentury classic, but this pop art Be Late wall clock by Brutto is actually affordable modern design.
It’s also one of my favourite designs around right now, both for the look and the price. If you want something to catch the eye without breaking the bank, then this might be the clock for you.
It might also be the clock for you if you happen to be a fan of Alexander Girard’s work. Those eyes remind me of his 1960s eyes graphic, which I have featured in the pasty as a cushion and mugs. Girard pieces tend to sell for a lot of money, even reissues. So something with the look for a lot less money is a winner.
It offers more too. The brightness of colour for one, as well as the graphics and the comic message on the face. As the maker says, the clock reminds us that ‘life’s pace isn’t always a sprint, but sometimes a leisurely stroll’.
The clock is plastic, with a reinforced tempered glass front, and a Japanese Quartz movement within. It’s also sized around 30cm across. Want one? Get ne directly from the maker for just £52.
