Big thanks to Andrew Graham once more for spotting this very distinctive 1960s Metamec Sunray wall clock, with a very low price only adding to the appeal.
Made in England and from 1967, it actually looks older – there's a touch of the art nouveau about those 'rays' for sure. Either way, it's a great focal point in a room. According to the seller, the this has been 'thoroughly cleaned and restored' to its former glory, with the original convex glass unmarked and the sunray segments outside undamaged. The mechanism works fine too, you'll just need a single battery to keep it going.
The only flaw is some of the gold 'gold' on those sunrays (only in small areas) has worn, but you can see from the photos that it doesn't have much of an impact. Anyway, with a current price of just 99 pence, it's hardly something to worry about.
