Yes, you thought it was unceremoniously thrown off the the edge of a cliff. But no, the Lamborghini Miura from the opening of The Italian Job is alive and well. If you have the money, it could be in your garage too.
The car is a 1968 Miura P400, one of two used in the opening scenes of the classic Michael Caine film. So how does it find itself in a car showroom in Cheshire? Read on…
The owner of Cheshire Classic Cars got a tip off about the car last year, indicating that it was in a ‘secret, underground parking garage’. Apparently the car was originally sold to an Italian dealer after filming, passing through four further owners before Norbetto Ferretti (the son of the dealer who bought the Miura) picked it up in 2005.
There is still some debate about its authenticity, but general opinion points to it being the real deal. With that in mind, this car is likely to have quite an asking price, especially in this wonderful condition and with such low mileage.
How much? We aren’t sure as the dealer has it as ‘price on application’. If you are feeling brave or just have money to burn, give them a call. That iconic movie scene below, naturally.
