When you think retro fashion, you don’t instantly think of Muji. But amazingly, the store currently stocks these incredibly retro-styled Velour Round Pouch bags.
Looking like something you’d have found on the shelf of a 60s boutique, the bag is made from a velvet velour and available in two sizes (small and medium) and two colours (black and brown). But the big selling point is that shape – a real eye-catcher.

Made by Loop NYC, the bag is around 20 inches long, with a 24-inch vinyl handle. It features a silk-screened canvas exterior with black sequins, a metallic silver lining and inner zip pocket, along with a gun & lip zip pull.

Looking for a cool retro sports bag? You need to pop into your local Lacoste store – they’re packed out with them, with this Lacoste retro shoulder bag being just one example.
The bags come in all sizes, from toiletry bags through to mini suitacases. all available in blue, white, black and this Lacoste green, all made from a a thick PVC. My personal favourite is this shoulder bag, very much in the style of a vintage flight bag, with adjustable strap, large zipped central area and smaller zipped outer pocket.

If you buy into the "man bag" thing, you might as well make it as classy as possible. And for my money, you’ll not get anything with more style than the Berluti Deux Jours bag.
Made from a soft quality leather, it’s sized at 16.5 x 12 x 5.7 inches (so enough room for most laptops) and with two compartments and a zipped outside pocket, there’s plenty of room to pack in just about everything else you might need about town.

We did feature some Orla Kiely mugs recently, but her range certainly isn’t limited to just homeware – she’s also producing some interesting fashion and accessories too, including this rather nice Orla Kiely 60s style Shopper bag.
This two-toned bag is made from soft leather, with stem print lining and leather strap with stud fastenings. There’s also an exterior pocket with stud fastening and intererior detailing, a mobile pocket and key chain.

As well as making expensive exclusive shoes, Rupert Sanderson also sells some very impressive retro-styled luggage.
Here’s the tale – last year Rupert found an old established family run luggage manufacturer just north of Milan. Rather than buying some, he approached the company with the idea of making a small collection of cases and bags, not unlike the old-style steamer trunks.
So here it is – made from cream velum (bleached kid skin) and, in the case of the ridged models, stretched over lightweight wooded frames. All the pieces are edged and are available in a choice of 22 different colours of leather.
It’s also made to order, so expect to wait two months. And the price? Well, let’s just say if you need to ask, you might need to consider other options.
