Cheetah Flight Bag by Jasper Conran at Tripp

Cheetah flight

Luxury luggage often seems the sole property of the impossibly rich, but just because an item is functional doesn't mean you can't make it look stylish on any budget. This Cheetah Flight Bag is a perfect example, and it has some sassy fifties chic thrown in too.

The bag is from Jasper Conran's designs for Tripp, and sells itself on its classic but fiesty design. With a structured flight bag shape that's timeless, the black and white cheetah print conjures a pinup feel. The simple curved lines of the bag let the print shine, ensuring this isn't littered with design points that will make it dated.

The Beatles x Comme des Garcons clothing and bag collection

Beatles1

The Beatles seem to be everywhere these days, from computer games to…well, music. Not to mention clothing if you add in the forthcoming The Beatles x Comme des Garcons clothing and bag collection.

As you can see above (and from the images over the page), it's a range of clothing and accessories that use The Beatles' Apple motif and The Beatles logo in varying amounts. The initial range, which was designed by Rei Kawakubo, includes t-shirts, shirts and bags, all of which will likely appeal to fans of the Fab Four and leave everyone else running a mile.

Price? Well, when you're talking official Beatles gear and the Comme des Garcons label, we suspect it isn't going to come cheap. To find out for sure, check out Dover Street Market, which is selling the range from 27th November 2009.

Velvet Swirl Bag from Topshop

Topshop bag

The eighties revival is going strong on the British high street, and the points of influence continue to grow, taking in many of the decade's creations. This Velvet Swirl Bag from Topshop combines some of the most loved fabrics of the time to create a thoroughly convincing eighties accessory.

The combination of black velvet and metallics immediately makes a retro impact, with gold and black working well together as always. The velvet gives the bag an unstructured, slouchy feel that often characterises 80s looks. Tied together with a swooping gold motif this could have stepped out of any vintage shop onto your arm.

It's available from Topshop now for £28.

Sam’s Garage wooden briefcase

Sam's suitcase

A contemporary play on a classic look, this wooden briefcase from Sam's Garage takes its cue from luggage from the 1950s and 60s. The briefcase is made out of bent plywood and uses a silkscreen applied geometric design at either side of the case. The result is very tactile and, though it may be not too practical for carrying around, is a pretty good look for storage in the home.

The version shown is appropriately called the retro edition but they sell two further cases each with very different looks: one with a pretty bird design and the other with the markings of a shipping container. Each case costs $185.
