Onitsuka Tiger Mini Boston bag

Tiger_bag

So far I’ve only been able to find these in Japan, but hopefully we’ll see the Onitsuka Tiger Mini Boston bag worldwide soon.

It’s very much like your classic bowling bag, but with a little more space for a weekend. Made of a ‘synthetic leather’, the bag has a main pocket, a zipped rear pocket and separate storage areas inside the colour-co-ordinated interior.

Available in red and black, it retails for 6,800 Yen (around £34).

Shinzi Katoh retro-styled tote bags

Shinzi
We love the designs of Shinzi Katoh – slightly retro, slightly child-like, but very eye-catching and feel good illustrations – typified by this Shinzi Katoh Train Rolling Down Calm Hill tote bag.

On the front of the large tote is said train heading down the brightly-coloured hill, with a reverse design of small bright green flowers.  If this one doesn’t take you, there’s also other tote of different shapes and designs, along with coffee cups, water bottles and numerous other bits and pieces.

The tote bag retails for £27.

Betseyville by Betsey Johnson shoulder bag

3607_5941

Betsey Johnson is a designer who celebrates her roots in the 1960s with style and flair, but sometimes her quirky side comes out with a little piece of retro kitsch.

This is especially evident in her Betseyville collection, full of pieces with humour and a bubblegum sheen. This Call Me purse is a perfect example. Just the sort of 50s Americana throwback that brings out the girly side of many a fashion lover.

This vinyl bag won’t cost an arm and a leg like most designer pieces, available at Fred Flare for $68. Perfect for wearing soundtracked by your girl group songs about handsome boys called Bobby and Jimmy.

Art deco inspired handbags from Dorothy Perkins

18913301_normal

I have to admit it seems one of the most unlikely couplings to have Dorothy Perkins and art deco in the same sentence, but the often underwhelming high street store has come up trumps this Spring.

This attractively designed bag lends heavily from a 1920s art deco inspiration in the pattern, and the shape also has something remiscent of flapper girl style. Completed with gold and black beading, this bag is paired with a more traditional clutch bag also available.

The shoulder bag version will cost you a very reasonable £20 online or in stores.
