We’re deep into the Christmas/New Year party season and if you’re after a costume, why not go as a cult 80s cartoon character?

Remember Magnum P.I.? Trashy 80s nonsense, with an ex-military man in a moustache and Bermuda shirt solving crimes around Hawaii. Fancy re-living it? You can on your mobile phone.

Developed by Ojom, it’s an old-style platform game for your phone where you control Thomas Magnum through over 20 levels of challenges, scouring Hawaii for known criminals, picking up stolen loot and finding evidence to lock the bad guys away and becoming the best P.I. on the island.

Which all sounds like jolly fun for the daily commute. Available for most handsets, check for prices and retailers with the company.

Mod movie Young Birds Fly reviewed

Over at Cinedelica, there’s a review now online for the US modern-day mod movie Young Birds Fly, courtesy of UK reviewer Maxine Hayward.

Young Birds Fly is the debut feature of American director Leonardo Flores. Indeed the film has been financed, researched directed and edited by Flores himself. It’s the tale of Jill, a quiet American girl who grows as a person within the US mod scene – and eventually, her disappointment with it.

The film is showing at independent cinemas, but as yet, there’s no confirmation of a DVD release. We’ll let you know if we hear anything. In the meantime, check out the review of the movie via the link below.

It seems like 80s nostalgia is in right now – and following on from yesterday’s Little A-Team we have more childhood memories – the Fraggle Rock dolls.

Yes, Jim Henson’s cave-dwellers are back – in doll form anyway. You can pick up Gobo, Red or Wembley, each standing at 35cm tall, all fully-clothed and with suitably manic hair, legs and tails.

No lighthouse keeper, you’ll have to play that role yourself. Each dolls retails for £14.95.

Well, the Little A-Team aren’t that hard to find – they’re available to buy on Etsy. All are three-inches tall, with Hannibal Smith resplendent with cigar in hand, Face Peck in typical 80s casual gear, ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock with flight jacket and baseball cap and of course, ‘B.A.’ Baracus packing a gold chain.

Available to buy online from Etsy, the set is priced at $80, which is around £40.
