Hope and Greenwood vintage sweets hamper

Hope_hamper
I love the Hope and Greenwood website, packed full of vintage sweets, with a website that’s the equivalent of a 1950s country shop. And as well as the retro sweets, there’s also some great children’s hampers, included this collection on a vintage-style suitcase.

Which means that once your little ones have polished off the sweets, they get a colourful suitcase to take on holiday or to store a few bits and pieces. In terms of contents, you get a festive mix including a giant gold chocolate coin, a frosty snowman chocolate lolly, a bag of traditional sweets, pink and white sugar mice and some Christsas chocolate balls.

In a choice of colours, the suitcase and sweets retails for £30.

Debenhams’ Gingham Cutlery Set

Gingham_2Mugs, cups and plates are a staple here but we’ve not, to my knowledge, featured cutlery before. To rectify that may I suggest this Gingham Cutlery Set from Debenhams.

It is a 16 piece set (4 each of knives, forks, spoons, and teaspoons) with a delightful gingham print on the handle. Available in red or blue gingham pattern, it will suit a kitchen with a 1950s style.

Sets cost a very reasonable £15 from the Debenhams’ website.

Joseph Joseph Retro Appliances Worktop Savers

Joseph_mixerJoseph Joseph have undoubtedly cornered the market in worktop savers and we’ve featured a couple of their designs before. The range now also includes two retro kitchen appliance designs; the Mixer Workshop Saver and the Espresso Machine Workshop Saver.

These designs use 1950s style pastel shade but with a bold drawing style that stops them from looking twee. Like all of their worktop savers, these come with a lifetime guarantee against breakage which is good except that with so many great designs to choose from, an excuse to buy a couple would be welcome.

The Perfect Pad is selling both these designs and others priced £12.99.

Bugatti retro-styled toaster and espresso coffee maker

Bugatti

The name Bugatti is more associated with the open road than the kitchen, but judging by this retro-styled toaster and espresso coffee maker, the move into the home looks to be a good one.

The espresso machine has the looks of a modernist piece and a rather cool retro dial, as well as a powerful 15-bar pump for milky drinks, a cup warmer on the top and the ability to use either coffee pods or ground coffee. The Volo toaster has a motorised lifting system, wide slots and a serving tray.

Both come in a range of colours (so you can match up) and both are available now. Expect to pay around £170 for the toaster and £450 for the coffee maker.

Rock and Roll China

P_rockplatesguitarTeenage dreams of being a rock god may have given way to a steady job, family and vital decisions about crockery, but you can still inject a bit of rock n roll glamour into your life with this set of Rock and Roll China.

Made of white porcelain with a cool black print, the series comprises of a mug and two sizes of plate in a choice of four designs; drums, guitar, amp or microphone. The smaller plates are particularly nice as they feature a rock n roll phrase around the edge.

Okay, so buying plates probably doesn’t come high on most hedonists’ to do lists, but for those of us outside of that world, these are a small consolation.

Prices start at £11 for the 20cm plate up to £14 for the larger plate from Pussy Home Boutique.

Tala Retro Food Kits

322898_2The rise of posh delis, patisseries and supermarket premium brands means that luxury food stuff is easy enough to get hold of these days, but as delicious as it may be, it doesn’t quite match the satisfaction of making things yourself.

If you want to unleash your inner fifties housewife (or househusband!), Tala has a range of Retro Food Sets that will help you do just that.

The range includes a Retro Ginger Bread Cutter Set, a Retro Icing Syringe Set and a Retro Jam Making Set. Each one provides the equipment you’ll need for the task.  They are packaged in boxes based on original 1950s designs which makes them suitable for giving as gifts too.

The sets are available to buy from The Conran Shop.
