Cross Stitch Collection by Big Tomato Company

HSHteapotlarge-LS

Traditional English creamware has been in our homes for a few hundred years now and Big Tomato Company have once again brought ceramics bang up to date whilst sticking firmly to the craft's historic roots.

Made in England's ceramics region of Stoke-on-Trent, the Cross Stitch collection gives a nod to the homespun arts & crafts of yesteryear. The cross stitch motif, taken from an antique sampler, adorns an array of creamware, from tiny jugs and plates to mugs and teapots, making them equally suitable for display or everyday use.

The range starts from £9.95 and is available from the Big Tomato Company website.

Betsy Jarvis’s vintage-style larder labels

Betsy larder
More retro food and drink goodness here, this time from a slightly different era to the milk bottle jugs featured earlier today. Betsy Jarvis makes larder labels, perfect for adding a vintage touch to your store cupboards.

They're a set of simple unbleached labels that tie onto storage jars. Let them know your requirements and they can customize the labels to whatever you need: tea, sugar, flour or other baking stuffs. Each label has been stained and frayed to give it a well-loved and vintage look.

If you like the look of these, be sure to check out the rest of her shop – featuring cushions in the same unbleached, vintage style.

A set of five costs £12.99. Sets of ten labels are also available.

Cole of London’s London mugs

Cole of London

More products celebrating London, though Cole of London's London mugs are a quirky take on the trend.

There are four mugs available, each featuring a different London landmark – pick from Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London or the Houses of Parliament. Each place is depicted in a sketchy style which contrasts to the official looking title and facts that are listed on the side of each mug. It's a style that's reminiscent of the work of Royston Cooper, who produced many travel advertisements in the 50s and 60s – and that's a very good thing indeed.

Made from bone china, the mugs cost £10 each.

Fresh slice – vinyl themed pizza cutter

Fresh slice

We love a good bit of vinyl, which is handy as shops seem eager to sell us record-related home accessories – the latest being the Fresh slice pizza cutter. Yep, it's a pizza cutter in which the blade is made to resemble a record (thankfully made from stainless steel rather than vinyl) and the plastic handle is made to look like a stylus arm.

File it next to the vinyl chopping board and the clock as a kitsch bit of kitchen fun.

The cutter costs £15.
