Apple lunchbox

Apple lunchbox

If you want to brighten up dull lunchtimes, this plastic apple lunchbox is a kitsch retro treat. It's designed by Luisa Finke for Koziol and features great attention to detail: the leaves act as a clasp closure and the base features a relief of the inside of an apple.

Appropriately enough, the lunchbox is available in red and green and this cheery treat will set you back just £9.99.

James Rosenquist for Illy Mugs

B-pop-up-illy-mug

Artist James Rosenquist has been a major player in the pop art scene since the 1950s. These mugs created for Illy are one of his most recent designs but still have a pop art sensibility. The design is called Coffee Flower Ideas and shows the journey of a coffee bean from plant to mug.

These are a first limited edition and are now out of production but can still be bought online from Panik Design. The price reflects the limited run, as they cost £100 for a pair.

Coffee-white

Colloco have a selection of mugs featuring Vintage Coffee Labels, which are rather more interesting than the labels on present day Nescafe.

There are four designs currently in stock, each one advertising a different old-fashioned coffee. Choose from white Park View Coffee, orange Daily Delight, yellow Always Good Private Blend or green Kaspers Monogram or buy a mixture.

The mugs cost just under £3.50 and can be bought online from Colloco.

Lovisa Wattman City thermos mugs

Lovisa wattman

Tower block architecture certainly divides people into the love or hate category: Lovisa Wattman's City thermos mugs provide an optimistic take on high-rise living. The set of two shows black and white photographs of modernist tower blocks, against childlike drawings of a giant sun and little fluffy clouds.

The mugs are double walled for insulation and made in the shape of the wine glass, making them perfect for clutching to you on less than sunny days. The set costs $24.

Retro Candy Grabber

P1160_big

Retro sweets aren’t too difficult to buy with lots of retailers cashing in on our love of nostalgic treats, but this Retro Candy Grabber makes eating them a little more interesting (and challenging).

Recreating the old-fashioned arcade game, the machine is filled with candy and you then have to use skill and dexterity to lower the crane and grab some goodies. It can be filled up with anything you like but it comes with a free bag of popular 70s retro sweets including Love Hearts, Refreshers and Parma Violets.

It costs £19.95 and can be ordered from Firebox.
