Boombox_pouch

Not just a place to dump your loose change, the Mini Boombox iPod speaker pouch also knocks out your iPod-based tunes.

Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Edition mobile phone

Nokia_brucelee_2

We don’t feature many mobiles phones on here – to be honest, not many have a retro angle. That’s not the case with the Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Edition mobile phone.

Yes, this special edition is a tribute to everyone’s favourite martial arts movie star, packing that super-cool Bruce Lee doll (complete with Onitsuka Tiger trainers), a phone featuring Bruce’s face and signature on the case, a set of rare photos and accessories including a Bruce Lee strap and decorative nunchakus.

Ok, here’s the bad news. So far it’s only been released on Hong Kong, via the local Nokia website. If you don’t fancy risking that, I suspect eBay will be full of them in a matter of weeks. It’s priced at the equivalent of a whopping £871.

Logic3 Valve80 audio system

Logic_valve

For music aficionados, you can’t beat a vintage-style valve audio system – and the Logic3 Valve80 offers it up on an affordable, iPod-friendly unit.

It’s not a bad looker either, with a metallic stand and those glass valves nestling up to your iPod or iPhone – and you can use it with a CD player or vinyl decks too, with up to 80w of ‘warm’ valve-based audio produced through the matching speakers.

Available from December, it sells for £299.

Pure’s retro-styled Evoke Mio DAB/FM radio

Evoke_mio

It’s always good to see a bit of leather on a radio – and Pure doesn’t disappoint with the Pure Evoke Mio.

Not just leather, there’s even a bit of suede (effect) thrown in too, with a colourful finish only adding to the overall retro effect. As a radio, it’s not bad either – DAB and FM reception, an OLED display for your info, 30 presets, an alarm, timer, connectivity for your iPod and a whopping 24 hours of battery life per charge.

Available before Christmas, it sells for £149.99.

Space Invaders alarm clock

Invaders_clock

This was kicking about in Japan a couple of years back and now the Space Invaders alarm clock has landed in the UK.

Offically licensed by Taito, the Space Invaders alarm clock tells you the time via its 70s-style digital face, but really comes to life when the alarm sounds – flashing up a screen of alien invaders, accompanied by a cacophony of authentic gaming sounds. Downside? Well, sadly you can’t play the game on its mini screen.

Still, a really quirky clock, available now in limited quantities for £24.95.

eBay watch: Buro Vormkrijgers Pong Clock

Pong_clock_2

Back in 2006,
we featured the Pong Clock by Dutch design studio Buro Vormkrijgers – a cool piece of retro design produced in very limited quantities for 199 Euros. In hindsight, that was probably a shrewd investment.

One of the clocks has surfaced on eBay with a ‘Buy It Now’ of £799.99. Now that sounds hefty, but bear in mind only 400 of these were officially made worldwide, with Atari stepping in to ensure only that number were made (they still own the copyright).

In terms of what you get, well it’s a digital clock in a smoked casing and in the style of the original game and with a game of Pong built in – against the clock though, not against someone else. The Pong Clock has a serial number and signature and this particular model is unused and is still in the original packaging. Personally I still think it’s a little expensive, but if you have the cash, it’s an investment that can only go up.
