Joe Colombo-inspired Colombo Two Phone heads to Argos

Colombo_white

Well, we first got told it was exclusive to Selfridges, then we saw it at selected online retailers – and now the Joe Colombo-inspired Colombo Phone (officially the Colombo Two) is on the high street at Argos. And indeed online at its site.

We’ve only spotted the white one so far (no coral), but it might be worth inquiring if your colour choice is the distinctive orange. The phone is being sold as a ‘triple pack’ at Argos for £69.99 – and if you want three of them, that’s quite a good deal, with the double pack widely selling at £59.99 elsewhere and a single at £39.99. Note that you only need once phone socket, no matter how many you buy.

We have covered the phone in detail in the past, so if you want to know more, you can find out all about it here.

Revo Uno – space age DAB/FM radio

Revo_uno

Plenty of DAB radios go down the retro route, but the Revo Uno goes off down a different route – the space age one.

If you’re going for a late 60s/early 70s vibe in your home, this will fit the bill perfectly. But it’s not all about the past, this has modern-day DAB radio, as well as FM, not to mention a variety of alarms and connectivity for your MP3/CD player, should you want to play via the speaker.

Other colours are available, but not really match the white. No matter what you go for, the Uno is available for a bargain £39.95.

Brionvega’s classic 1960s RR126 audio system returns as RR226

Brion2

Quite simple stunning, the Brionvega Radiofonografo RR126 is a 60s design classic – and it looks like it’s coming back as the RR226.

It was designed back in 1965 by Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni, notable for its looks, its versatility and its folding speakers – which can be positioned at the side and on the top, depending on your space and needs. The new version keeps all of that functionality (including the radio, built-in amp, dial controls and 33/45rpm vinyl playback), but meets the modern era halfway with the addition of CD and DVD players.

So far it’s just been shown off around the design shows, but we’re hoping it makes it to retail in the not-too-distant future. The price will no doubt be seriously high, but this is one design classic we’ll certainly be saving up for. See over the page for an image of the system with speakers on top.

iStylophone – turn your iPhone into a Stylophone

Istyl2

I’ve still not been sold on the idea of an iPhone, but the iStylophone could push me nearer a purchase.

No stranger to Retro To Go, the Stylophone was the original consumer-friendly electronic keyboard, even making the charts in 1970, courtesy of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. And you can re-create it on your Apple phone (and iPod Touch), replicating all the sounds and features of the original right down to an authentic look.

It’s available from December 1st from the Very Cool Software Company for around £3.

Secret Book 110 camera

Secret_book

110 film revolutionised photography in the 70s, making cameras easier to use and easier to load. But not as easy as the digital cameras that have now made the film more or less extinct. Except in Japan of course.

And from Japan comes the Secret Book camera. Yes, shaped like a vintage book, youu just pull off the casing and spine to expose a retro-styled camera that uses 110 film for capturing your precious moments.

It’s sized at just 4.5 x 1.5 inches and if you’re worried about getting the film (which can be developed at any specialist camera store), you can order that online too. The camera cost $55 (around £30). See over for a pic of the camera in book form.
