Nagasaki Chair by Mathieu Mategot

9332
The Nagasaki Chair is probably the best-known design by Hungarian/French designer Mathieu Mategot (you may remember his Kangaroo table featured last month). This iconic piece has recently been re-issued by Gubi, which is great news for fans of 1950s design looking for a new designer to obsess over.

The chair rests on three-legs and is made up of juxtaposed geometric shapes. It is made from perforated metal and is available with either a red, yellow or white seat, contrasting with the black finish of the legs and backrest.

The chairs are available from Nest, priced £317 each.

Crown Vintage Paints

Crownvintage
With so many great wallpapers available, it would be tempting to paper every wall in the house, but to make it a bit easier on the eye, you may want to paint a few, which is where Crown’s new range Crown Vintage comes in.

Created in association with Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway, whose love of all things vintage is no secret, the range consists of 30 flat matt emulsions. The colours are inspired by music, fashion, film, art and design from the 1940s up to the 1980s, and have names such as Make Do and Mend, Mop Top Mania, Beat Generation Blue and Free Love.

You can read more about the range on the Crown Paints Blog or buy them exclusively at Homebase, priced £22.50 for a 2.5L tin.

Otium Sofa by La Palma

Otium
I’ll be the first to admit that the Otium Sofa by La Palma does not look the most cosy but what it lacks in obvious comfort, it makes up for with its sleek appearance.

Designed by Mario Ruiz, it is made from walnut on a stainless steel base. It has principally been designed for commercial use such as waiting rooms and reception areas, where you perhaps don’t want people to get too comfortable. Two cushions designed for the sofa are available separately.

It costs £2,750 from Made in Design.
