Sir Harald Panel Curtain by Lisa Bengtsson

01
New in at the Scandinavian Design Center is this Sir Harald Panel Curtain by Swedish artist Lisa Bengtsson.

Like many of Lisa’s patterns, it combines black and white with bold splashes of colour. In this case, the design is a tribute to Lisa’s great grandfather Harald, although I’m not sure if the rather dashing retro-looking man in the print is actually him. The curtain measures 43cm by 260 cm and costs £53.56.

Capellini Secret Clubhouse

4772
The Capellini Secret Clubhouse is an unusual piece that combines memories of childhood dens with the best of classic Swedish design.

It could easily pass as something from the 1970s, although it was created by Martin Vallin in 2010 and rather than wicker, it uses recycled pine plywood. Even at the current discounted price, the Cappellini Secret Clubhouse is, I suspect, out of most people’s price range for a single piece of furniture. It costs £5,863.98 (reduced from £6,898.80).

If you have the desire and means, buy it online at Nest.

Roddy and Ginger Pomegranate Design

300
We’ve mentioned a few Roddy and Ginger products in the past, so were pleased to see that they’ve produced a few new designs including this Pomegranate Tree Print.

Like the tapestry mentioned below, the design is very much in the Scandinavian folk art style. It has been hand screen-printed in teal, olive and grey. The print measures 40cm by 50cm. The same design is also available in cushion form, with a choice of grey/red, grey/teal or grey/ochre on either white or natural linen.

The print costs £35 and the cushions cost £26, all from the Roddy and Ginger website.

Scandi Scene Tapestry

Scandiscene
Just the name alone should be enough to tell you that the Scandi Scene Tapestry has been heavily influenced by vintage Scandinavian design.

The large woven cotton sheeting tapestry features a bright folkloric pattern with birds, tree and flowers. It can be put to variety of uses: hung on the wall; used as a chair covering or as throw for your bed. It measures 100 inches long by 84 inches wide and would fit a Queen-sized bed if that is how you want to use it.

It costs $39 from Urban Outfitters.

John Lewis summer folk bowls

Summer folk

Wanting to entertain in style once the sun comes out again? Take a look at John Lewis's summer folk bowls. Made from melamine, they're ideally suited for a spot of outdoor entertaining.

However, it's the colour and the design that really attracted us. As their name might suggest, the style looks towards the Scandinavian folk look. More specifically, the pattern is reminiscent of the Cathrineholm Lotus pattern of the 1960s, executed in bright, eye catching colours that are perfect for sunny days.

A large bowl costs £4.80, while you can buy a small bowl for £2.40.

’50s style tea towel from H&M

Elde tea towel

It's a classy piece of design which looks like it would be more at home on the wall than in the kitchen but in fact this '50s style tea towel is from H&M

Designer Anna Karin-Elde has depicted two ceramics, drawn in a sketchy fifties style. The simple design is then printed onto 100% organic cotton.

You'd expect H&M to be cheap but in fact this design is on sale so it's even more of a bargain, costing just £3.49.
