LEGO Brick Light

10772112x
Following yesterday’s matchbox light, here is another novelty light, but this time aimed at children (or at least the inner child).

The LEGO Brick Light, has four white LEDs hidden within its studs and can be used as a bedside light or mounted on a wall (the necessary attachments are included). It measures 8cm by 8cm by 4cm, and unlike many LEGO-inspired pieces, is an official LEGO product.  It is available in various colours, but it seems to be pot luck from all retailers as to which colour you will receive.

It is available to buy online from a variety of the usual retailers, including Play, priced £6.99.  A cheap and cheerful stocking-filler, if ever we saw one.

Clifford Richards Robot Night Night Light

Robot-night-light3
We've featured some of his  original prints at Elphicks last week and have previously given quite a lot of love and attention to Clifford Richards' robot designs but have only just come across his robot Night Night Light

The wonderfully retro robot shape is made from recycled powdered steel and would be perfect for a kids bedroom. To up the eco credentials, it's solar powered and come bed time, the robot is backlit by a warm glow. Other animal-inspired shaped night lights are available, but this is definitely the favourite option for a good night.

The light costs £38.

Vintage Car Wallpaper

Product_CC198_1
This Vintage Car Wallpaper is another quirky wallpaper from Dutch designers Studio Ditto, whose Vintage Plates Wallpaper we mentioned a while back.

This wallpaper features various toy vehicles (cars, camper vans, trucks and tanks), but rather than shiny new toys, these are old ones that have clearly been played with and in the process, taken a bit of a battering.

The wallpaper costs £120 per roll from Catkin Collection.

Out of Print clothing: now available for kids

Brave new world
Got a bookworm for a kid? Or just want to encourage some intellectual leanings? Out of Print have now expanding their range of clothing featuring classic book jackets to include a range for kids.

No doubt like the children that they'll dress, the t-shirts range is small but perfectly formed, featuring just four titles: Catcher in the Rye, Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice and the striking 1936 cover of Brave New World pictured. Each design is printed onto a 100% cotton tee.

Each t-shirt costs $22 and, like the grown-up versions, with each purchase a book is donated through the charity Books for Africa.

Going Places kids rug from Designers Guild

Going-places-kids-rug-main
This Going Places rug from Designers Guild is another example of a kid's design that's as desirable for adults too.

It's a colourful design, intended to capture the hustle and bustle of transport in a busy place. That translates into simple outlines of cars and trains, set amongst the backdrop of cars and mountains. Both the subject matter and the treatment of the design are reminiscent of classic transport posters.

Made from acrylic and measuring 120 x 170cm, the rug costs £195.
