Daisy Lane collection at Lark

Daisy lane

For any girl who celebrated their birthday in the 1970s, the style of the new Daisy Lane collection at Lark will be instantly familiar.

The range has been created by Allison at the Australian store Lark who was inspired by some vintage greetings cards she unearthed and decided to track down the original illustrator. That turned out to be Sue Adams, who created the sweet and flowery illustrations, so typical of the period, for greeting cards from the 1960s to the 1980s. The designs have now been revived and turned into a children's gift range, currently including posters, badges and bas of sweet and soon to be expanded.

Prices start at AUS$4.95 for the badges sold with accompanying gift cards.

Earlyrider

If your young child is showing rebellious tendencies, you might as well get the bike to match – the Early Rider Bike.

Yes, this is a motorcycle-style bike for your kids, styled like the bikes seen in Easy Rider – that name is no accident after all. It's also a robust, wooden-framed bike with no pedals, designed to teach your child to ride a bicycle. Just as long as you are on hand in case it goes wrong.

Suitable for two to five-year-olds, you can get one at Pedlars, £110 is the price.

Lottie Lion kids meal set from Too Much Too Young

LIONSET

As well as a song by The Specials, Too Much Too Young is now also the title of a company specialising in stuff for kids. As you'd expect from the name, all the goods have a retro feel, such as this Lottie Lion meal set

Made in the UK, the bone china cup and plate set all are decorated with the an illustration of a friendly lion, very much worked in a late 60s/70s style. If lions are still a little scary, they also sell sets featuring child friendly designs of trains, toadstools and elephants. Take a look at their website for games and reworked vintage items suitable for nurseries too.

All the items in this meal set are available to buy separately or you can get the whole lot for £30.

Jane Foster Tilda doll kit

Jane Foster Tilda

Jane Foster's designs are no strangers on this site. So it's no surprise that when she designs something as simple as this Tilda doll kit, she injects a bit of retro style into that too.

Like the Clothkitty doll of old, it's a flat design printed onto linen cotton you then sew together and stuff yourself. Less stuffy than your average doll though – this design with her long hair and stripy Breton dress is a bit Jane Birkin-esque or, at the very least, the doll looks like she dresses with some 60s style.

The doll kit costs £20.
