A Touch of Ivy Cosmetics Bags

RBSmedium-2

The company A Touch of Ivy was founded over 17 years ago by Ivy Weitzman, whose designs incorporate her knowledge of fashion with her love of vintage fabrics. Pictured here is her Retro Brown Sky Cosmetics Case which is one of a series of make-up bags from her range.

It is available in a choice of small (6 ¾ " x 5 ¼ ") or medium (9 ½ " x 6 ¾”), with both sized closed with a zipper. They are made from 100% silk charmeuse, in a gorgeous brown, blue and cream print, lined with vinyl.  There is also a Pucci-style print or a green paisley design available.

The small bag costs $22 and the medium $28 and are available to buy from Orange and Pear.

Bold and Noble Love print

Bold and Noble love

Bold and Noble's distinctive screen prints, such as Love shown here, are the result of a collaboration between designers Jane Tobitt and David Wardle. David's background is in book design and you will recognise his distinctive style from many covers, including The Cloudspotter's Guide or the J.G. Ballard Harper Perennial paperback series. This interest in typography and images is reflected in their work.

Love prettifies Robert Indiana's iconic work using a pattern of scrolls and flowers. It's available in an attention grabbing red or a more subdued pink, although Bold and Noble can be commissioned to produce their work in bespoke colours if required. Printed onto white recycled card, each print costs £30.

Tam Tam RenomaGraph stools – art meets design

Tamtam1

Just when you thought nothing else could be done with the Tam Tam stool, we discover a new take on the 60s classic – Tam Tam RenomaGraph stools.

Something of a two-for-one deal here, not only do you get the iconic 1960s design from Henry Massonnet (promoted initially by Brigitte Bardot no less), but you also get a piece of eye-catching artwork on the top from French artist/designer Maurice Renoma.

It's a really cool mix of the old and the new – and amazingly, it's still super-cheap. You can pick up a Tam Tam RenomaGraph for just £35.40, which makes it a contender for bargain of the year. See over for another image of the stool or check out the site for the full range.

Betsy

If you are inspired by vintage fabrics but would like to wear them in a more contemporary way, you may be interested in the designs produced by Old Hat.

Old Hat is the work of recent fashion graduate Kelly Ann who reworks old fabrics into stylish new numbers. The Betsy shift dress shown here uses a pleat detail to form a modern and striking silhouette from the silk mix fabric. Each style is only produced one or two times, making each outfit extra special.

Betsy is available along with other Old Hat creations from The Look Boutique, a site dedicated to showcasing new talent and distinctive designs, and is currently on sale at the reduced price of £40.

Retro Rooms: Tony Strange

Tony1

After a brief detour to Finland, our Retro Rooms feature is back in the UK – London to be precise, for the room of Tony Strange.

Tony says he has a 'retro house' rather than a retro room, but we're just being let in on the living room for now. Plenty of space age design packing the place – and we're loving that round TV too.

See over for more photos and once again, if you want to show off your house or a single room, just get in touch.

Saarinen Womb chair print

Mimidoodles[1]

This print, entitled Absence No. 12 on Veneer and available from Mimidoodles' Etsy shop, would look great displayed alongside Eero Saarinen's iconic Womb chair and ottoman. If you aren't fortunate enough to own the chair, this image would add a stylish touch to any interior.

The original work was done onto veneer, adding to the retro look, and this giclée print retains the colour and sense of style of the initial piece. It's been helpfully sized to fit a 8" x 10" frame and at $27 is a more affordable option than purchasing the original chair.
