Mid-Century Porcelain Roe

CM_roe

I wouldn’t normally give shelf space to animal-shaped ornaments but I would be willing to make an exception for this Porcelain Roe.

Handmade from original mid-century moulds, it has been hand-painted in monochrome, which helps it to avoid the folksy look of many animal ornaments. There is also a swan, panther, collie and mouse in the same range. The roe costs $235 (around £180) with the others costing from $45 for the mouse up to $275 for the panther.

They are available to buy from Eden and Eden.

Sukie Perpetual Calendar

Pcalopenlge

Normally buying a calendar in mid-March would not represent good value for money with two months already passed, but such considerations are obsolete with a perpetual calendar such as this one from Sukie.

As with all of Sukie’s designs, it has a definite retro feel, in this case it has a mid-century Scandinavian look to it. The calendar is die-cut with a desktop stand and features a moveable day, date, month and even a weather feature.

It costs just £6.84 and can be bought from the Sukie website.

50s style cotton floral dress from Dorothy Perkins

Dorothy perkins dress

The sun is starting to struggle out from the clouds, and that makes it an awful lot easier to start thinking of spring and summer clothing purchases. As with most years, the fashion pack are using lots of floral prints in this season's designs, which is no bad thing for retro lovers.

This White Cotton Floral Dress from Dorothy Perkins is a very sweet, traditional fifties style that is ideal for sunnier months. Both the shape and print combine to make this a surprisingly faithful fifties reproduction from a high street shop. A slightly flowing circle skirt, combined with a fitted though demure bodice make this an instantly recognisable retro item.

It's available from Dorothy Perkins for £30.
