Alessi Agata Teapot

Imgzoom-AGATA-set-Alessi-refam25-set

Designed by Alessandro Mendini for Alessi, the Agata Teapot is a twist on the classic English teapot.

It is made from stainless steel with polyamide handle. What is particularly novel about this design however is the accompanying terra cotta tea light burner, which allows you to burn a tea light beneath the pot to keep your tea warm. A simple yet genius idea.

It is available to buy from various online retailers but Go Electrical have it priced at £114.40 which is the cheapest I’ve seen it.

Cloche Hat Pin Brooch

Clochebrooch

Currently on show at the V&A is the exhibition “Hats: An Anthology by Steve Jones” and as you would expect, the museum shop is awash with millinery-inspired gifts, including a collection of retro Cloche Hat Pin Brooches.

The brooches are available in a choice of six colours (dark blue, fuschia, teal, dusky pink, ivory or green) and are great way to add a bit of 1920s glamour to an outfit.

They cost £10 each and are available to buy online from the V&A Shop website.

Pietro Chiesa 1930s Cartoccio clear glass vase

Cartoccio

Another modernist gem reissued by Fontana Arte – the Pietro Chiesa Cartoccio clear glass vase.

Designed back in 1932, it's still an unusual, almost sculptural object – and guaranteed to stand out in your home. if you're wondering about that name, Cartoccio effectively means 'paper bag' – and that's pretty much where the shape comes from.

If you like it, it's yours for £310.

Dave White Bang Bang! artwork

Bang-bang

If you like Roy Lichtenstein then you'll probably love this Bang Bang! canvas by Dave White.

The modern-day Liverpool based artist draws inspiration from things he loves including trainers, cars and comic book figures to create his own brand of 21st century pop art.

This piece is 60 x 72 inches and is mixed media on canvas. For an original work it costs fairly reasonable £1725, a lot less than you would pay for a Lichtenstein print.

ASOS Ditsy Western Shirt

Ditsy asos

Seventies fashion in the US carried a great thread of old fashioned Americana that fits right in with the hippy folk aesthetic that the era is perhaps best remembered for. This Ditsy Western Shirt from ASOS's own line is a perfect summer shirt for a seventies look.

The ditsy print gives this a sunshiney, hippy look that not only looks retro, but is ideal for the coming summer months in the here and now. With a western motif in the chest, the white accents of the collar and cuffs give this an old-fashioned traditional southern states style that looks just as fresh now as it did then.
