Original 1950s Scooter

1950scooter

Given the price and rarity, this is not probably not a scooter to give your kids to play with in the park nor to weave your way through city traffic on, but rather one for the collectors.

An original atomic vintage kick-a-long scooter, it dates back to 1950. It is a rare and collectible item and Elemental currently have one available to buy from their website, priced £450.

Visit the Elemental website for further details.

Emu arm puppet returns

Emu

Sadly, Rod Hull has long departed, but we still have Emu, returning here as a large or small puppet.

What can you say, except this is an official replica of the original 1970s (and 80s) Emu (more professional in many ways), giving you license to attack friends and family at will. Because as we  all know, it isn't you, it's the Emu. And of course, you can manipulate that sift beak into various expressions, just for added effect.

Who knows…it could be a whole new career for you in light entertainment – and all for just £14.95.

Felipe Oliveira Baptista button front dress

Picture 1

Much of the time, big name designer dresses are so flamboyant and 'cutting edge' that it's hard to see the justification of spending so much money. Thankfully, classics have come back into favour in recent years, making an investment in style much more worthwhile.

This Felipe Oliveira Baptista dress has something of a 1940s feel to it, which is rare as a point of inspiration for design houses. The Button Front Dress is simple, classic, and perenially stylish. With a navy blue shade and contrasting gold buttons, this could easily pass for vintage.

The looser fit suggests a silhouette predating the sexier 1950s pinup style, while the pencil skirt and cinched waist still create a flattering look. The dress is available online from Browns Fashion for £810.

Pure Wool Cloche hat from Marks and Spencer

Pure wool cloche

Fancy some affordable 1920s style, but don't have the occasion to wear a flapper style dress? There's been a wealth of twenties and thirties inspired high street fashion this winter, but all of it seemingly designed for the party season. This Marks and Spencer Pure Wool Cloche hat fills the gap for twenties style that's wearable almost every day.

The hat uses the classic bell shape of the cloche simply and effectively. In an all weather grey, it's that little bit more versatile than an all black version. The addition of a black bow is cute and chic, adding some delicate femininity to an otherwise plain accessory.

Purchaser reviews have rated this a great fit with fantastic looks, all for just £15 from M&S.

eBay watch: Verner Panton System 123 lounge chair

Panton_123

Another great piece of discontinued design on eBay – the Verner Panton System 123 lounge chair.

Typically Panton, but not widely available these days – it was produced for Fritz Hansen in a variety of finishes back in 1973, produced up until 1989. This particular model has the high-end 'deluxe' finish, along with that chrome base that offers a 360-degree swivel. Or if you had a few, you can push together for a very special modular sofa.

Indeed, the seller has three of these, all available at the closing price to the successful bidder. How much will that be? Who knows – but the price is currently at a very affordable £106.
