Newson-like Felt Chair

Feltchair

If you liked the Marc Newson Orgone Chair we featured last week, but were less keen on the price tag, then Retro Republic has the Felt Chair which has been inspired by Newson.

Obviously there is a debate about the rights and wrongs of such unashamed copying, but putting aside such qualms then the Felt Chair is a very affordable alternative. It is currently on special offer for just £50 per chair. At that price, they could even be put to use outdoors.

Visit Retro Republic to order.

Vico Magistretti 1960s Dalu Lamp reissued as transparent version

Dalu

The Dalu Lamp was one of the first items we covered back in 2006 – we're big fans and have been ever since we found two originals in a dusty old box in a junk shop. But the lamp is now back in production, with a new transparent version of the Dalu Lamp now available.

We love Vico Magistretti's 60s classic for two reasons – firstly, it looks superb and screams the era, but secondly, it's an affordable design classic. For your money, you get that distinctive S-shaped polycarbonate body, with a small bulb housed in the top section. But the new versions are offered as transparent red and orange, adding a cool minimalist twist to a 60s gem.

Cheap too – yours for just over £50.

Puma Breakpoint Collection Clyde trainers

Clyde_wimbledon

Seems odd that a trainer originally designed for a basketball player in the 1970s (Walt 'Clyde' Frazier fact fans) has now got a tennis-themed version – the Puma Breakpoint Collection Clyde trainers.

No, we don't understand it at all, so it's just as well that the trainers look good. For the record, these are 'inspired by Wimbledon', offering up perforated leather trims, a premium suede finish, subtle tonal stripes, contrast accents and limited availability.

That last point means you'll have to pre-order in either of the colours above if you want a pair – they sell for £65, with shipping in the last week of March.

Airstream Bambi 422 – cool retro caravan

Bambi422

The words 'caravan' and 'cool' used in the same sentence? We can only be talking about an Airstream trailer, specifically the Airstream Bambi 422, complete with that authentic steel and aluminium finish.

Perfect for a spot of country touring this summer, the two-berth Bambi 422 is based on the look of an original early 60s Airstream, but with a more compact size and all the modern facilities to hand – check out the gallery on the site for a look at the kitchen, bathroom and living spaces, which include air conditioning, an audio set-up, TV and a set of kitchen appliances every bit as good as the ones in your static home.

Obviously, this kind of mobile luxury is going to come at a price – and that price is around £35,000. Still, we can dream.
