Designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1962 the Toio Floor Lamp was inspired by a car headlight.
The Toio has a rather more industrial look to it than many other lighting designs from that decade. It comprises of an adjustable stem with a telescopic head, with a steel base painted in a choice of white, black or red. .

A great piece of quirky home design, the Papermen coat rack by Ramon Middelkoop is just like those paper decorations you used to cut out and hang up around the house.
Except this isn't paper – each of the Papermen is made of metal, coloured in black, green or orange and with central indentations so you can use it for hanging hats, coats, scarves or bags.
Clever design that doesn't cost a fortune either – you can pick one up for £29.95.
If you are lucky you may pick up a chest of drawers like this from a secondhand furniture shop, but for those of us who never find such gems, Heal’s have a range of bedroom furniture that mimics the vintage style.
Given the descriptive if unimaginative collection name of vintage, it comprises of the wide chest of drawers pictured above, a five drawer tall chest and a wardrobe. All of the pieces are made from a Walnut solid and veneers and are supplied fully assembled, which is always a relief.

This alarm clock by Newgate was inspired by the pocket watches of the 19th Century.
Unlike the pocket watches of old, you don’t need to wind this one up, as it runs on one LR44 battery instead, which is probably a little more convenient for the modern lifestyle. Its size makes it ideal to take with you on your travels.

It's certainly not temperate enough to wear a summer dress just yet, but if you're looking forward to the sunnier Spring months the high street is happy to oblige with their new lines. This Vibrant print dress from New Look is certainly not one for winter, but it's worth looking forward to wearing.
With a very wholesome cut and print, this speaks of the 1950s and is ideal for both picnics and casual eveningwear. The sweet print perfectly compliments the full skirted cut, while the peter pan collar detail adds an extra fifties touch.

At first glance, you would probably guess that the LSA Zabo vases were a 1960s Scandinavian design (think something like the Holmegaard Gulvase). But they're actually new designs, the work of Monika Lubkowska-Jonas.
Choose from the white or lime and black colourways, with the vases hand-produced using techniques such as casing, overlaying and 'cameo' cutting of the surface. No, we don't know what that means either, but we suspect it involves a lot of time and effort.
